MorFIT Gym COVID-19 Response Frequently Asked Questions

During the coronavirus outbreak our priority is our people. We will continue to follow the guidance of the State of Maryland and keep our members up-to-date on possible reopening dates for MORFIT GYM.

JUNE 17, 2020 Dear MORFIT friends, The first half of the year has been pretty unexpected for everyone. We know you are all looking forward to the day when we can safely and effectively return to a restriction free lifestyle. We fully understand how important your fitness is and are taking all precautions to reopen the facility as safely as possible this Saturday, June 20th 2020 from 9 AM - 1 PM. Because of the restrictions associated with reopening, there was much thought put into the cost to continue maintaining a high level of service. Our rent and operating expenses have remained the same throughout the closure and with new COVID restrictions in place we are required to operate with extremely limited capacity. In light of this, we have made the necessary adjustments to MORFIT pricing and service offerings. We firmly believe all returning members will benefit greatly from all of the available plans and expanded programs we now have to offer. Each one is designed to customize your experience and most importantly, give you the personalized attention to get you in excellent shape. Thank you for your support of this gym and of our community through this unusual time.

New Class Schedule:Existing Member Updates:
As of May 1, 2020, we made the decision to freeze all membership accounts and personal training. No members were charged for May or June 2020 while the gym was closed due to COVID-19 restrictions. All accounts will remain frozen unless reactivated with one of our new program offerings.The former MORFIT member price point of $39.99 per month is no longer sustainable. The new cost model will allow the gym to operate through the rest of the year and pricing structure will be re-evaluated at the end of 2020 to determine if the offerings are still in line with the market and economic climate. Members With Unused Personal Training Sessions: All members with outstanding personal training sessions will be able to apply those unused sessions towards one of our new virtual, gym access, or PT offerings. Use the sign up form to indicate "Use available PT sessions" and we will be in touch to match you up with a trainer. If you would like to request a trainer, you will be able to do so at sign up. PT is not able to be refunded at this time but all package expiration dates have been extended. Members Who Paid For The Year In Advance: Any member who paid for the year 2020 in advance will have the option to apply the balance of unused time (prorated amount) to any of our current packages or receive a refund of the unused balance if you do not plan on coming back to MORFIT. SAFETY PROCEDURES All members and guests will be required to have their temperature checked prior to working out. Temperature scanners are located at the MORFIT entrance. If you register even a low grade running a fever you will not be permitted to use the facility and may be asked to obtain medical clearance before returning. All MORFIT staff members will be required to wear masks at all times. This includes training staff. All classes hosted outside will not require mask use. Members and guests will not be required to wear a mask while working out but will be asked to wear a mask in the facility when interacting at the front desk and at the entrance. Members and guests will be required to maintain proper social distancing of 6-10 feet apart while on the workout floor. We will Initially be limiting some amenities and services to promote safety. Cardio equipment will be limited to every other machine. Machines not available for use are marked with a social distancing sticker. Group fitness classes will resume in the main group fitness studio with a maximum capacity of 10. This will consist of 1 instructor and up to 9 live participants. Group fitness classes will be live streamed from MORFIT for the general public (Les Mills* classes excluded from live stream) Members will be expected to wipe down any weights, handles, benches, and equipment used by them with germicidal spray or disinfectant wipes. Failure to do this may result in membership restrictions. MORFIT staff members will conduct hourly cleaning audits. Cleaning service is scheduled for four times per week during non-open gym hours.

Public Health Protocols – Updated 4/22/2020

Anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms including coughing, excessive sneezing, shortness of breath, or illness will be asked to leave the facility and seek medical attention and/or 14-Day suspension of gym access to allow for quarantine.

Safety of Members

  • Providing members with free disposable gloves and branded masks for purchase.
  • Limiting cardio usage to encourage social distancing.
  • Limiting number of persons allowed in the facility at a time.
  • Limited class sizes and will be held outside.
  • Cycling classes will not be held in the current cycling studio.

Safety of Team Members

  • Staff temperature checks before scheduled shift will occur for the first 30 days.
  • Staff will be required to wear PPE in the facility at all times including masks and gloves and for the foreseeable future.
  • Staff will be required to wash hands in restrooms 1x per hour minimally.
  • Food consumption will be done outside of the facility, team members working a shift longer than 6 hours will receive a 30 minute off-site break to eat, etc.
  • Contact-less check out and limited in-house staffing
  • Members will be required to complete basic accounting requests online, such as change of billing information, updating credit card, etc.
  • All members will need to opt-in for email notifications and stay up-to-date with the club happenings through the MORFIT website.
  • Acrylic face shield for credit card processing machine have been purchased for additional safety of team members and members purchasing merchandise and food items at the front desk. Drinks and bars will be sold in bulk to limit contact.

Cleaning Guidelines

  • Our cleaning team has been hard at work deep cleaning the facility during the closure. We will be adding two additional deep cleaning days per week to ensure the facility is well maintained and sanitized.
  • Team members will sanitize their station at the front desk including all high traffic surfaces at the beginning and end of every shift.

To protect or team members and members, towel service will be suspended until further notice. Members may opt to bring their own towel or purchase one for $3.00
Please check back for updated Hours of Operation for MORFIT Gym. Our change in hours is to ensure we are complying with all safety protocols and operational procedures designed to keep our members healthy and safe. We hope to return to our full scheduled hours soon.
We offer the full array of classes at MorFIT and are constantly adding new formats to our menu of services. Below are some of the formats currently on the schedule: Zumba, Zumba Toning, Les Mills BodyPump, Les Mills BodyCombat, Les Mills CXWORX, Les Mills BodyFlow, Les Mills SPRINT, Cycling, Various Yoga formats, Bootcamp, Core/ HIIT, Step, etc.
All group fitness classes will remain on the schedule as long as the class suits the MorFIT Gym member needs. Existing classes may be evaluated by management based on class size, time of day, and availability. We are open to new class requests – please email membercare@morfitgym.com to make suggestions.

All group fitness classes are included in the membership unless otherwise stated. All Les Mills programs are included in the membership as well. There may be a fee associated with certain specialty programs and events hosted by MORFIT.
MORFIT Gym offers class passes and guest access passes to all non-members. If you are visiting, have a friend or family member who is visiting, or you just want temporary gym access we have options available for you. You can find class pass pricing here. You can also purchase class or gym passes directly from the front desk on the day of your visit. Please call 301-963-4800 for more information.
MORFIT Gym offers a student membership option for all members in school between the age of 12 and 18 years old. Valid student ID is required to be eligible. Must be a Maryland resident and must have parent or legal guardian present on the day of sign up.
MORFIT Gym is not affiliated with the Gold’s Gym brand. A separate membership will be required to enter MORFIT as of January 15th, 2019.
